Charlize Theron 'I was a nerd at school'

Classic beauty: Charlize Theron arrives at a screening of Young Adult yesterday in New York

Charlize Theron used to be too “nerdy” to get a date.
The sexy actress says she now gets satisfaction at discovering her old school pals are kicking themselves for not taking up the opportunity to romance her when they had the chance.
“At school I wore really, really nerdy glasses. I was blind as could be! Boys don’t really like big nerdy glasses,” says Charlize.
“I didn’t really have boyfriends, but I had a massive crush on this boy who didn’t know that I existed in school.
“Some guy that interviewed me went to find that boy recently and he said, ‘Yeah, tell her the crush was mutual.’ F*** that! The crush was so not mutual. He was like, ‘Oh I remember she wore those glasses. Ewww!’”
Charlize recently dished the dirt on her breakup from boyfriend Stuart Townsend.
“I’d gotten out of a relationship, and I was in this really floaty place,” she told Vogue.
“My feet weren’t touching the ground. I just kind of turned to [Reitman] and was like, ‘I feel like me again.’”
Theron says she was desperate to save her relationship, so acting took a backseat.
“It was sinking, and I had to give it a fight,” she said. “I really wanted to try and make it work. That was the priority. I wouldn’t do it any different way.
“I’ve never been single. This is the first time in my life. From the time I was nineteen, I’ve been in relationships, literally gone from one to the other within a month. It’s been good for me. I’m a creature who’s really found her comfort zone in relationships. It’s been nice to rediscover myself.
“I had to make a real conscious effort to do it it’s hard. It’s much easier to lose yourself in flowers and cigarettes and coffee with somebody else.
“I do want to have kids, yeah.
“I always have. I’ve never had a rush for it, a moment where I really wanted to do it. I don’t have a panic about it.
“I don’t think about the amount so much. You have to be aware of what you can give. I don’t know where I’m going to be in five years. I might be in a place where I’m like, ‘Yeah! Six!’”
“I don’t think it will ever be that.”
